Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of Clinical procedures.
- Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, temporary restorations, and other delegated tasks in accordance with state regulations and clinic policies.
- Take dental X-rays using digital imaging technology while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA and infection prevention protocols.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
- Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems ensuring compliance with confidentiality policies.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and treatment plans to foster understanding and comfort.
- Maintain clinical cleanliness through proper dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures following aseptic techniques.
Skills
- Proficiency with dental software, scheduling, documentation, and patient management.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical documentation, and clinical procedures across general dentistry disciplines.
- Experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging, for comprehensive diagnostics.
- Expertise in infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, and healthcare infection control standards.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during patient care.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with the dental team as a dental receptionist or in patient care roles while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and the ability to handle diverse patient needs with professionalism and compassion.
